Essential Yoga Friends and Students,

It’s  always about this time of the year that we give up on our New Year’s Resolutions.   It starts out with  just  missing a class or eating unwisely and then before you know it you are back to your old ways.  Remember  you can always just begin again.   Start right where you are and begin again.  Get up and move your body.  Vow today to just eat healthy…just for today.   Take time to get outside and take a walk, and get some fresh air.  Slow down and meditate … just five minutes today, maybe longer tomorrow.  Take care of you …just for today…

March is just about here and I can’t emphasize enough that you really need to take advantage of our Doug Swenson workshop.  We are very lucky to have him come to Springfield and if we don’t , he may not bother with Springfield again.  There are classes for everyone, all levels.  You can just attend one class or sign up for the weekend.  If you are going to sign up for the full weekend the early registration price will be going up on March 10th.   This is an amazing and fun weekend and Doug is a wealth of knowledge.   We will have him in a very small intimate setting where we can  talk to him about his life and experiences.  Doug and his brother David were of the first westerners to be allowed to study Ashtanga Yoga with Patobi Jois.  This is an experience you won’t want to miss.  You can sign up in class or go to the website and pay online.  Space is limited.

 Peace and light,

Shari

What a great time to commit to your yoga practice. Let’s begin by asking; what it is you want from your yoga practice?  Most of us want to feel good physically and clear and calm mentally.   Others just want a yoga butt.  Maybe it’s time to step it up a bit. Why not commit to adding just one more class per week if your current practice is one class a week or just one more if you are currently doing two or more. If you couldn’t possibly add one more class to your life right now then commit to taking your practice off the mat and living your yoga.   What does that mean?
1.       Step back from stressful situations and take a breath before you react. So many times in life we just barge ahead without thinking about the situation.
2.       Take risks…just peek over the edge in life and then step back ...peek over and then step back again.   Keep trying new experiences and challenging yourself.
3.       Honor your body…remind yourself to feel every situation. Do I need this cookie? Does my body need exercise, water, fresh air, calming stillness?
4.       Trust your intuition in all situations. Stop and check in. Ask how does this situation feel right now?
5.       Meditate. Allow yourself just a few quiet minutes a day.  We need to stop listening to the insistent chatter in our minds and learn to become calm and quiet to see clearly.
6.        Slow down and smell the roses. Notice things as you go about your day…just notice. Be awake present and alive in all situations.
7.       Trust in the process of life. Life is an incredible journey.
Join us in your journey at Essential Yoga!! Allow our teachers to assist you in finding a unique yoga practice to enhance your well being. Visit us at www.EssentialYoga.net for a complete class schedule.
Begin your new life today!
Peace and Light,

Nov News

Hey Everyone
I hope you are ready for the holiday season to begin….I always dread this time of year.  1. Because It’s dark and cold and we can’t play outside as much  2. We don’t watch our diets and eat way too much rich food with all the parties going on  3.  We are so busy we tend to give up our exercise and fitness practices and  4. Shopping .
This year I am vowing to try to keep some equanimity  in my life to get me through the season.  I am going to try to keep up with my meditation, keep up with my practice and not be so hard on myself.  It is a time to slow down, make good choices and reflect on what is truly important.  Thankfully we have yoga to get us through.  Make sure you don’t give up your practice while you are so busy with shopping and getting ready for the festivities.
I am excited to introduce to you Rebecca Moore who will be teaching our new Zumba classes.  I really feel that we could all use some out and out FUN in our lives and I really think Zumba could help us find  that .  When was the last time you just let yourself go and laughed and played and didn’t care what you looked like doing it?  That is what I feel Zumba can bring to our practice.  Zumba combines high energy and motivating music with unique moves to dance your worries away. It is based on the principle that a workout should be FUN to keep you motivated to stick with your practice and achieve long-term health.  Zumba is a “feel- happy” workout that is a great compliment to our regular yoga practice. Starting November  1st Essential Yoga offers 2 classes.  Mondays at 11:30am-12:45pm and Wednesdays at 5:00pm-5:45pm.  The cost is FREE to Unlimited Members and $5.00 to all others.  I plan on giving it a try…so don’t laugh when you see me trying.  No on the other hand go ahead and laugh.  Live, Laugh….Dance.
Much Love to you all
